I hope everyone had the best Thanksgiving ever! Ours was pretty good, but would've been better if Mama wasn't in the hospital. They admitted her for congestive heart failure, (huge amount of fluid on her lungs and around her heart) and put her in ICU immediately. Within a few hours the fluid was coming off nice and fast and her heartbeat had began to regulate. Its always a scare when she has any kind of problem, because she is a survivor of cancer and a quadruple heart bypass, and has enphysema. But she is tough as nails and a huge believer that God will take her when it's her time to go and not one minute before! The doctor just told her they are putting her in a room this evening(out of icu) and if she continues to improve she can go home in a couple of days. So Thank YOU ALL for your prayers! They work! And God listens. I really appreciate your faith, spirit, love, kindness, and your big hearts! Having said that, I want to apologize for a recent misunderstanding. It seems my sister Belinda was asked by someone what Mama would want for Christmas, and she actually said (without thinking how it would be perceived) just something to eat or maybe money. And for some reason, (I dont really know why) she decided that I didnt need to know about it! So some people immediately took it that my Mom is broke and out of groceries and has no food. Admittedly, money is tight for her at times because she lives on a fixed income, but Kelly and I help every chance we get, My brother Jack lives with her and buys food, and she has Tracy who is a really good friend who goes pretty regularly out of the goodness and sweetness of her heart and brings Mama food. The truth is, Mama would be embarrassed if she knew that anyone had been led to believe that she was starving, my Daddy would roll over in his grave and cuss, and most of her kids (me especially) would be embarrassed as well that someone from our family had led any of you to believe that! LOL So all I'm saying is this, if anybody wants to get my Mama something for Christmas or give her something at ANY time for that matter please come to me with it and don't hide it from me out of trying to keep me from worrying. Because I'll shoot straight with you and point you in the right direction AND will HONESTLY make sure that she really receives what you wan her to have. The funny ending to this blog is this: I called my brother Jack right before I talked to my sister Belinda who started all this, and said, "What in the crap are ya'll doing buying Mama a new stove?" (He'd told me this morning they had gotten her a new electric stove) He acted dumbfounded and said, "Well she needed one! That old one was shot and me, and Timmy, and John And Mikey went in together and gave it to her as an early Christmas gift." I said, "Well hell! That's the stupidest thing I ever heard of my life!" "What do you mean?" Jack answered. "Well what good is a dang stove gonna do her if she doesn't have anything to cook?" "She has plenty to cook!", Jack said. "I'm standing here washing dishes right now where I just cooked!" Then I told him what had happened and we both laughed a little bit. I love and appreciate you all, and my Mama appreciates your prayers. And if you want to send her anything in the future, or not, it's ok either way. All I ask is please come through me so that you are not mislead! God bless you all Jeff
